They are adding VPN, Safe Web, anti-virus in newest installation on official side, that's dick move

Older versions were fine but 7.4 from a green button installs many additional software without permision or any optional windows. Fuck the people behind it, they make a lot on patronite and do nasty shit like this.

Pro tip: If you are using Windows 10 and can enable “Windows Sandbox” (typically requires Pro or Enterprise editions), install CE to a sandbox instance and just copy/paste the installed folder back to your main machine. Any other crapware installed by the installer should die as soon as you close the sandbox.

Agreed that the CE installer has totally turned to shit though.

Always used advanced install no matter the program. I don’t care if it’s a Microsoft install. It’s safer that way.

Yeah, it’s shitty of CE but it’s the only way they can really get paid.

What’s crazy to me. I uninstalled the VPN and Safe Web, a week later, without me starting Cheatengine, Safe Web was suddenly back, installed and running. What the fuck!?

You can always click on “decline” so it doesn’t install the offer.

Alternatively, if you’re too afraid, join the cheat engine patreon at https://www.patreon.com/cheatengine which has a installer download that doesn’t show any optional downloads

Now I know which app installed that crap came from on my new OS install. They all seemed to uninstall easily enough though

It’s shitty, but at least you can get the source code and compile it yourself

Source code is on github… just compile it

My point is, there should not be issue like this with such a widely known software in a first place. Your solution is good but like I said, there is way too many “free” software with weird stuff, but none of them foced another software like this, it reminds me of cracked software.

Isn’t Sandbox only available in the pro/enterprise versions

But I did, you can even find cases of people having same issue.

Do you even read my comments?

Would that even work with CE’s installer?
The name unchecky makes me believe it just unchecks all options and then clicks next/accept. The Cheatengine installer doesn’t use checkboxes and uses accept to accept the install.

So, wouldn’t this just force you to install the ads instead of giving you the option to decline?

Believe me, I agree 100%. I was just trying to offer a work around (not necessarily just for you but for anyone else reading this who has similar frustrations) since we’re currently stuck dealing with this mess as it is.

That’s right. There are various ways to upgrade your edition which I presume people in a sub like this might be aware of, but if you are on Home this doesn’t work. I’ll edit my comment to make this more clear.

I’ve never had an issue on any of the computers I’ve installed it on so long as I go to the advanced settings.

If you’re really worried, you could always use the “cheat happens” program that works on a very basic level like CE (I prefer CE personally)

It pops up a warning when you click an unnecessary accept button. not sure if it still works on this new version of cheatengine since I haven’t updated, but it did catch one for me during my installation originally.

I managed to install from github, there at least I had chance to uncheck. For example imagine installing something like spotify but it does install other things without permision, my words are ment to show the issue, I’m not looking for solution because in a first place there should not be issue like this.
