UK channel 5 recognising a VPN is being used

ExpressVPN is loaded on Amazon Firestick. My5 app is loaded. With VPN set to connect to London and my5 started, message states “it seems you are trying to access this app from behind a VPN or proxy server” and won’t let me view programmes. This worked when I first loaded the VPN.

Can access BBC iPlayer perfectly

Anybody any ideas?

Reboot the Firestick. That should clear any cookies. Connect to your VPN, that should clear it. Amazon Firestick are less reliable than watching on a laptop so that might be your last resort

You need to use Smart DNS Proxy. Works perfectly for me. Can access Chanel 4, 5 This works with Amazon Firestick. I have UK and Canadian Prime accounts too.

Try this free for 2 weeks.
HERE

Just keep trying. Sometimes it says ‘ not available in your area . Do it again , works fine. Occasionally it takes 3 tries.

Channel 4 and 5 on firestick need your time zone to be set to uk

Do you have any relatives in the UK? A raspberry pi, TV card and tvheadend would solve all your problems

How would you go about doing this?

How technical are you? Do you know your way around Linux and Raspberry Pis?

Do you know anyone that might be able to help? I do not mind explaining the steps involved.

I do. My mom was in programming and testing her whole career

Let’s start with what you will need

  1. Raspberry Pi 3 (I prefer this model as it does not require any cooling)
  2. A TV Hat
  3. An SD card (16 Gig or higher)
  4. A case (Which is suitable for the pi and the hat)
  5. A power supply
  6. Access to a TV aerial
  7. An ethernet cable to the main router (you can use WiFi but wired is always better)

You can get most of this stuff at the Pi Hut, the TV hat was cheaper at Amazon UK.

Are you in the UK? I’m not sure this will work if you are in the USA.

Anyway, there’s a starting point with regards to costs.
