Ultravpn virus?

This application installed itself and is taking up an exorbitant amount of my cpu. It wont let me uninstall it because it says i dont have permissions to and im tweaking because im pretty sure they’re stealing all my shit as we speak :sob:

Can anyone try to help me with this?

If you had Kaspersky before, they gave their US users Ultra AV and their other services because Kaspersky was banned in the US. You could give Revo Uninstaller a try, no idea if that would work though. I have heard people recommend it.

Can someone help me get this off my computer? I cant uninstall with windows or revo, and the uninstaller exe gives a “side by side” error.

Revouninstaller has worked for me in the past when issues like this has happened

So it doesn’t do it’s job as kaspersky advertised then?

Acer has pre-built adware.

Since you didn’t download it, it was probably bundled with an installer for another program. It might be a PUP, but since it takes a lot of CPU it might even be a cyptominer. I don’t think that this is stealer since they usually try to hide, but it’s not impossible. They work instantly, so it’s best if you change your passwords on another device.

Run a scan with Malwarebytes and adwcleaner. Process Explorer from Sysinternals might be able to kill it and Autoruns might stop it from launching again. Also, in the task manager right-click it and select “open file localisation” or something like this (I don’t use Windows in English so it might be called differently). It should show you the .exe file, which you can put into virustotal.

Read here to find out why, unfortunately Kaspersky failed its customers

https://www.bankinfosecurity.com/kaspersky-us-customers-migrate-to-pangos-ultraav-after-ban-a-26215

So Kaspersky failed its customers because the US decided to ban it on the unverified allegation that they were funneling data? I fail to see how this is Kaspersky’s blunder. This sounds like the fault of nationalist fear mongering.

Oh crap, I didn’t connect the dots.
Honestly UltraAV sounds so darn sketchy and like a PUP that I completely forgot that this is what Kaspersky “provided” for their customers in US .

I still can’t believe that people who paid for arguably one of the best AVs possible received this piece of crap instead.

They could have not migrated people to a sketchy av. Like either a partial refund or maybe migrate to something trustworthy like bitdefender eset or sophos

I agree with you that everything that is said about Kaspersky is complete nonsense. I criticize the part about installing an unknown program without your permission. The company should not have done that

They installed something on my computer without my permission. That is a HUGE fucking professional blunder for an AV company. The fact that they were banned doesn’t absolve them of their sins.

It is the result of nationalist fear mongering. Election season is fast approaching. This was just a way to punish a Russian company for votes.

I don’t even need a refund, I understand it wasn’t their fault to be banned. I can take my losses, but installing shit on my computer is unforgivable.
