Apologies for the question. (And thanks to those who pointed me to this subreddit.)
I tried to find an answer on my own first, but I don’t know enough to evaluate what little info I was able to find.
A few years ago I bought a lifetime subscription to VPN Unlimited. The service was, and continues to be, well reviewed.
Now that I am a Protonmail subscriber I get the free version of the Proton VPN.
So I’m wondering which is better, the paid version of VPN Unlimited or the free version of Proton VPN? I doubt I would get the paid version of Proton VPN unless it was radically better than the paid version of VPN Unlimited.
Thanks in advance!
The beauty of the free Proton VPN is that you can just test it and see how it works out for you.
Personally I trust Proton more than I’d trust any other (and especially US based) VPN services.
I would highly recommend getting the paid version of ProtonVPN. It’s been the best of all that I’ve tried and I’ve tried more than 10 to decide what works for me.
Other than the technical infrastructure, the most important factor to consider when choosing a VPN provider is trust in the people behind it. I’ve also found that the organizations I find most trustworthy also maintain the best networks.
Careful scrutiny as the layman I am lead me to conclude that it’s a choice between Proton VPN or Mullvad.
No need to consider all the other alternatives, no matter how many so called independent reports they have funded to claim them as better…
