What good is WARP+ for?

While WARP+ sends my data through a fast and encrypted tunnel, which is NOT end-to-end encrypted, what good is it compared to a premium VPN?

I know many would say SPEED, but I see my network speed slightly decreasing after connecting to the WARP+ subscription—also, my network ping increases.

Speed decrease to where? To your ISP speedtest? Sure. To a server far in Asia? I doubt it. Lot of people don’t understand how internet works and that’s where all that confusion comes from. That’s also why those vpn business are doing so well.

If the “colo” you see on https://cloudflare.com/cdn-cgi/trace isn’t the closest to you based on Cloudflare Global Network | Data Center Locations , might need warp+.

Some datacenters are more expensive to use and Cloudflare might prioritize or restrict their usage to warp+ customers.

Keep in mind that warp is not a vpn, is much more complex than that.

Wait Warp isn’t end to end encrypted? Then what’s the point of it at all?

Ya, I’ll be honest: I know very little about how the internet works.

The speed is slightly lesser in the Ookla speed test, and the website loads a very little slower.

It is, I mean thats the whole point of cloudflare products

Ookla or speedtest will send you to the closest server for the maximum speed, but it doesn’t represent the performance of the global internet from your network. Cloudflare are most probably better connected all over the world than your ISP.

So while cloudflare will add a penalty let say compare to a server that is hosted in the same physical building than your ISP, it will speed things up for most routes to other servers all around the world.

You really need to test app specific. Cloudflare slow you down on Ookla, but it’s only true for Ookla. So if you don’t do speedtest all day everyday, then it’s of very little use. If you do online gaming, then you can compare your ping with and without cloudflare. Usually if your ISP is good and that the game server is close enough, your ping should be worst with cloudflare.

If you send files to a remote server in Singapore, I would bet on cloudflare being faster.

Thank you very much for explaining this. Good to know all this. But bro, what about the central question I asked? Please read the post and description.

Edit: I use NextDNS as my default DNS provider, and I absolutely love its features and benefits; it is very recommended. I have set it up on my Android phone and laptop.

However, On my Windows 11 laptop, WARP+ would not connect while my NextDNS app is up and working, while on my phone, I have both NextDNS and WARP+ working simultaneously.

you should use it via wireguard with wcgf tool. I am using it on my Mac.

Well, NextDNS doesn’t use a VPN tunnel. I use NextDNS in conjunction with Avast VPN, and it works, but somehow, with WARP+, it shows an error saying “DNS lookup failure.”
