Back when I was using a regular VPN while streaming Netflix, I’d often get blocked. That’s why I’ve used both Dedicated IP and Obfuscated Servers for streaming. I’ve recently been using them for both Hulu and HBO Max, and it worked. I’m not sure which type of specialty server is faster. I thought that a dedicated IP is faster than a regular VPN, but it doesn’t look like it. I haven’t noticed any speed differences while using a dedicated IP. Strangely, obfuscated servers worked better for streaming HBO Max. I don’t see much difference for Hulu. I’m wondering which type of VPN would be the fastest for streaming while avoiding a VPN block.
Using a dedicated IP address in terms of speed is no different, protocols can be changed for normal VPN server for a dedicated IP address you can only use TCP or UDP, the preferred option for streaming services is UDP as it’s connectionless and faster, NordLynx cannot be used with a dedicated IP address.
Using a normal VPN server you are using an IP address which is shared by multiple users, in this scenario you are more likely to be detected, then you have to switch servers.
A dedicated IP address, purchased from Nordvpn, means that it belongs to you and only you are using it. I’ve been using a purchased dedicated IP address for months and have no issues with it, however it’s not undetectable it’s just more unlikely to be detected. The drawbacks with this type of VPN is it’s static and it involves additional cost, being static if you are detected it becomes useless for that particular application, or until it’s removed from their blacklist.
I’m assuming you have purchased this from Nordvpn as selecting a dedicated server will not give you a personal static IP address unless purchased, it’s still a shared server.

Obfuscated Servers are used for serious restrictions on internet services, very good at bypassing restrictions but are noticably slower. More information here: Obfuscated Servers
Netflix are very hot when it comes to VPN users, even with a dedicated IP address the chances are they’ll detect it.

I’ve been using Nord with OpenVPN UDP for years with no issues. Whenever someone has an issue on this sub with streaming, it’s almost always because they just used the default setting and got lucky a bunch of times until it eventually stopped working.
When using desktop, its also good to disable ipv6, since VPNs don’t cover that, and some sites will use it to detect your real location.
I also have a free subscription to Microsoft Azure, so I used that to host my own VPN server. The downside with that is that I can only access one region at a time but the speeds are faster since I’m the only one using it.
My Azure VPN works with every US streaming service except Hulu, so I use that when I want to stream via the US, but if I need a different region, I use Nord.
VPN can be faster if the VPN provides a faster path for the data to get to you.

I have a dedicated IP as an option, but I think it is the one that was purchased on top of the subscription. I’m sharing it with my brother. I asked him about it and he said that he never purchased one top of the subscription. I think that the dedicated IP address that I’m using isn’t a personal static IP address. So far it has been successful bypassing Hulu’s VPN block. It works with HBO Max but sometimes the video doesn’t load. That could be an issue with loading instead of a VPN block.
I’m wondering if the one that is purchased is faster.
Strange, I setup a wireguard server on azure, and was unable to stream. All the services identified it as a vpn, i even switched IP’s half a dozen times and it same problem. How did you manage to do it?
