You can finally Toggle Proton VPN without being launched into the app (on iOS 16.4)
What is the difference between Toggle on Demand and Toggle. Can someone please explain. Also, is there an ability to choose the country for VPN
wait you can also do it through settings right? by turning on the vpn option right below mobile data? unless you meant turning the vpn on whenever you’re connected to wifi/turning vpn on without opening any vpn
Just out of curiosity why are you turning your mobile data off first?
How do you set this up? I’m not very familiar with shortcuts. Thanks
Doesnt work anymore. PVPN automatically reconnects after the widget disconnects
Hi are you able to add the actual shortcut for us to load and try?
I can finally make an automation to connect to a Wireguard VPN when launching specific apps that need to avoid geo blocks and then disconnect when closing these apps.
How comes I didn’t get this with iOS 16.4 ?
Is there a way to turn on vpn if your wifi disconnects. Like if I leave my house can it turn on tail scale?
Connect on demand makes it so that if the VPN were to disconnect randomly it would reconnect by itself. It isn’t necessary to turn that on of course but I do just incase.
Hence if you want to disconnect, you would also want to disable connect on demand or it would reconnect automatically.
Toggle would usually mean manually or every time it’s triggered, say if there’s an action for when opening an app then if the VPN was on, it would be off and vice-versa when an app was opened.
The Toggle on Demand is honestly am befuddled myself especially when am only using CloudFlare Warp than an actual VPN.
I have this shortcut added to my Homescreen so I don’t need to open an app or go into settings and manually enable/disable the VPN.
Previously the shortcut actions for Proton VPN made you jump into the app to toggle VPN while also being slower to connect. But now we can control the VPN like in settings so it’s way better.
Personal use case, I only want to use a VPN on WiFi but I often use 5G data at home because it’s faster in certain parts of the house.
The point of the vpn
What more do you need? The screenshot on OPs post shows all the actions that you need.
I’m still being asked if I want to run this automation when triggered and I do not see and option ‘do not ask’. Are you getting this automation to run without the prompt?
You can automate this with Shortcuts and Shortery on macOS (and with just Shortcuts and the built-in automation on iOS.
Yes and you’d have to select your desired VPN manually anyway.
The compiled shortcut which we can load into the shortcuts app without having to learn to compile it ourselves. I’ve downloaded many of them online and they’re very useful. Thanks
